Rest Your Way to Success

That’s right! One of the biggest problems I see with junior golfers is a lack of adequate rest. Your coaches, your parents and the industry say practice, practice, practice! Well research, and me, says rest, rest, rest! Yes there is a time for training and practice, but as important as that time is, rest is almost more important, and here’s why… When you train and practice your body spends a lot of energy and needs time to replenish its supplies; it requires neurological repair; requires muscular repair; requires mental repair; and requires all of the repair that your body has to manage as well!

So I beg you! It is GOOD to rest if you are tired, and remember these two rules:
1. If you are training or practicing and you are less than 90%, then go home and take a day off!
2. Check your morning heart rate each morning to get familiar with what your norm is. If you wake up one morning and your normal heart rate is plus or minus 10 beats from your norm, then take the day off.
